REPORT: Save The Rancheros! Ford May Kill Falcon Ute

We have Ford's new global platform strategy to thank for the awesome Focus and Fiesta, but the drive to simplify its worldwide product lineup could have an unexpected downside. It could kill Australia's Falcon Ute. Oh noes! More »

Victoria Police Divisional Van Kicks Dirt In Our Camino-Less Faces

The Victoria Police in Australia are getting Holden VE Omega Utes with a new feature, a custom-designed bed-pod bridging the gap between cars and vans. We can't even get one El Camino and they're putting toppers on theirs. Not fair. More »

Holden Commodore SS V-Series Special Edition: "V" Is For Pontiac

The Pontiac G8 sedan and Ute will live on as the Holden Commodore SS V-Series in Australia with the trademark Pontiac grille. Oh, and there's a wagon. Photos of the badgeless beasts below. More »

Who better to hoon the properly batshit Australian Holden HSV Ute than The Stig? Of course, now he's got a new ride. [TopGear.com]

Blown Holden Ute Does Double Roll During Burnout, Crowd Goes Wild!

Click here to read Blown Holden Ute Does Double Roll During Burnout, Crowd Goes Wild!
When you've got a supercharged, tubbed and roll-caged Holden Ute, burnouts, donuts and general hoonulence are inevitable, but this... this is hooning art. It seems you have to go to Australia for the real high-proof stuff, as this starts out simple and safely enough with a gross display of horsepower at a sanctioned local race track, but then the driver decides on a donut, and things go horribly, awesomely wrong as the car flips on it's side — twice — and then drives away to the roar of the crowd. Truly, we have much to learn from from this advanced civilization.

926 HP Holden Ute: Blueprint For An Epic Pontiac G8 El Camino

Considering everything under the skin of the new Pontiac G8 El Camino sport truck is basically a Holden Ute, it stands to reason all the modifications done to this truck-car could be done to our sport truck. How would you feel about a 926 HP El Camino? We would feel pretty good about it, all seven seconds we drove it before planting it into a wall somewhere. The mega-hoons at C.A.P.A. Performance who build this baby really understand the idea of Maximum El Camino Day - it's every day of their lives. More »

2008 Ford FG Falcons Are Here, Holden To Your Seats

The wait is finally over and the new Australian Ford Falcons are here. Known as the FG Falcon, this seventh generation of the Falcon appears to be packing the goods to compete with the venerable Holden Commodore. This RWD sedan will come in XT, G-Series and XR trim levels with a variety of engines. The Ute version will include a base, R6 and XR trim. In addition to the base inline-six, the Falcon gets a turbocharged version good for 362 horsepower and 393 lb.-ft. of torque. At the top end is the 5.4-liter Boss V8 good for 388 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque. Press release and more pics of the Aussie car-truck goodness below the jump. More »

GMC Denali XT Hybrid Concept Truck: The Caballero Is Back...In Concept

Click here to read GMC Denali XT Hybrid Concept Truck: The Caballero Is Back...In Concept
This is it. It's called the GMC Denali XT Hybrid Concept Truck, and this unibody rear-wheel drive Australian professional grade car-truck action set to be unveiled this week at the Chicago Auto Show is making us excited in a way we haven't been since we saw the first episode of My Name Is Earl. And why shouldn't we be? Everyone knows the El Camino had a GMC version called the Sprint Caballero! GM, knowing of our love of all things car with a truck-bed allowed us, along with the fellow lovers of all things El Camino at PickupTruck.com, the opportunity to go behind the scenes in sunny Southern California for an exclusive with the design team and some one-of-a-kind photos of this unique Aussie import. When we accepted the invite to attend (at our own expense of course) we were expecting to see nothing more than a re-badged four-door Holden Crewman updated to the current VE architecture. Cool, but nothing more than what you'd expect from a leader in re-badging. Instead what we got was stunning, jaw-dropping and mind-blowing. So grab a shrimp off the Barbie above and settle in for the full story below the jump, mate! More »

We Ask GM's Rick Wagoner About a New El Camino...Back-Asswardly

Click here to read We Ask GM's Rick Wagoner About a New El Camino...Back-Asswardly
As we hinted at yesterday — we had the opportunity to sit down (with a group of other auto journos — but it totally felt like it was just the two of us in that room. Or maybe it's just because I could care less about the fuel economy and economic issues surrounding the General, the direction most of the auto hacks were beating their chests to) and talk with GM's big chief exec, Rick Wagoner, yesterday before his keynote address at CES. So what did we talk about? How about future Zeta products hitting US shores — like the reports we've heard of GM greenlighting an El Camino ute and a wagon for Pontiac under the G8 nameplate. Namely we were wondering about the rumors we've heard that if Pontiac builds both the wagon and the ute, the wagon will only come with a V6 engine while the ute would come in both V6 and V8 flavors. Our back-and-forth with His Slickness after the jump. More »
